Music Classes

Mozart to Monet Music Classes are age-appropriate to infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers.  Designed  to introduce your child’s first musical experience, our classes, through singing, creative movement, music making and exploring  all kinds of “real”  musical instruments, are geared toward one goal: to develop a love for music at a very young age.  Each class is led by an enthusiastic music teacher who sings and plays instruments of the orchestra. Our music classes will always have a piano accompanist.   Using a variety of orchestral instruments, singing popular tunes, standards,  and nursery rhymes, children will develop a large song repertoire. They can choose their favorites and learn them by heart. They will have a chance to listen to real live instruments such as the violin and cello, or the trumpet and clarinet, just to name a few.  They will be able to tell them apart by their tone color and the way they are played. Children will become familiar with well-known classical pieces…some from the great W.A. Mozart himself!

Are You Ready for Music, Baby!

Ages 6-14 months (mommy & me)
Length: 45 Minutes
Price: $210 (6 weeks)

Our 1st introduction to music at a very early age! Babies are introduced to expressive singing,  bouncing & rocking to classical, folk and popular music, all played by a live piano accompanist, along with the music  teacher.   The music teacher leads an interactive & joy filled music experience using farm animal puppets to introduce the various instruments and songs of the week.

We will have a “special guest” join us occasionally to play a different instrument of the orchestra.  Such as the violin, flute, and guitar to name a few.  Babies are encouraged to come up and touch the instruments, therefore exposing them to sight, sound and touch, giving babies an early start to turning their senses on to the joy of music!

In our class, Meet the Instruments,(1-2 year olds), children observe, listen and are given the opportunity to hold and experiment with their own miniature version of classical instruments of the orchestra, as well as folk instruments like guitar, accordion and harmonica.

This class welcomes “special guest musicians”, on alternate weeks, who introduce the violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, French horn, and a wide variety of percussion instruments.  . In addition to a lead teacher, every class features a pianist who improvises accompaniments in a variety of musical styles

Now you are 2 ½ , and you believe you can play the Violin, Viola and Cello- and know the difference between the Stringed Instruments!

In our class, Meet The Instruments (2-3 year olds), children observe, listen and are given the opportunity to hold and experiment with their own miniature version of classical instruments of the orchestra.  Hands-on experiences and opportunities to sing familiar songs with each instrument are a part of the class, and children begin to develop an awareness of the distinctions among instrument families, and how different instruments of the orchestra are grouped together. Such as Stringed Instruments, Wind Instruments, and Percussion Instruments.

This class welcomes “special guest musicians”, on alternate weeks, who introduce more orchestral instruments.  Playing on musical instruments like violins, guitars, mini- accordions, recorders and harmonicas, kids have fun imitating their teacher in ensembles.  Children learn to interact, listen and “play” together as a group of aspiring musicians!

Mini Mozarts

3-4 years

Length: 45 min

Price: $210 (6 weeks)

Similar to Meet the Instruments, our Mini Mozarts Class will always have a live piano accompanist.  Children enjoy singing their favorite songs, and have a more extensive repertoire than simple nursery rhymes.  They are able to learn basic rhythm concepts through bongos, woodblocks and other percussion instruments.  Still introducing our “special guest musician” on occasion.

In Mini Mozarts, the children learn to play simple melodic tunes on the xylophone.  We introduce how music is notated, and help build a fundamental understanding of rhythm and note reading.  They have been exposed to many different orchestral  instruments, such as violin, cello, flute, and many others,  and are able to distinguish between the different sounds of the instruments……They are on the way to becoming Mini Mozarts!

Sing it Baby!

The voice is an instrument too!

In this fun and friendly class, we teach your child songs in different genres.  Song selection may include a little Broadway, a little Beatles, a little Somewhere Over the Rainbow!  Children will not only get to sing together as a group, but each child will have their turn to sing solo, their song of choice accompanied live by piano / guitar.  We teach children basic “Solfege” (do, re, mi) of the Major Scale in sign language.

Singing in front of their musical pals will build confidence, while expressing their ability to sing, sing a song!
